The Scheduler I Use NowĪs I just hinted above, I do now use and heavily rely on Tailwind - a paid scheduler - for my 2 blogs. That’s how I know that until recently, there hasn’t been a good free way to schedule Pinterest pins - that is, not an official Pinterest-approved way. I tinkered with various free trials until I felt comfortable investing in Tailwind, but I’ve periodically Googled over the past few years, hoping something new would pop up. I was desperate for a FREE (or at least a nearly-free) solution starting out, because I already felt anxious about the few regular expenses I’d accumulated for this new and untested venture. Everyone was raving about Pinterest as an amazing way to generate traffic, but all of the free social media schedulers I found didn’t seem to include Pinterest. You’re looking at your soon-to-be new secretary of state.'”Įvers' decision to appoint Godlewski rather than hold a special election to fill the office has outraged Republicans, who had been openly discussing transferring election administration duties from a bipartisan commission to the secretary of state office, following the lead of 38 other states. “I came home after that meeting and my husband was like, 'How was the governor? Are you serving on a task force? Are you serving on a commission?'" Godlewski said. She denied that any quid pro quo was at play. She said she had no idea what the governor wanted before they sat down and he offered her the job. Don't forget the end grain! Even if you can't nock it down to perfectly smooth it is still important to open the fibers so the finish penetrates. After the 80 on the palm sander I went to 220 grit on a rubber sanding block. A bench mounted belt sander would have cut a good couple hours off this step but there is still some handwork regardless. A router would be overkill if you are sanding anyways since it is so easy to cut through pine with sandpaper. There are lots of them too! It took a very long time and I rounded over all the edges. Sanding: I started using 80 grit on a palm sander to knock down all the larger imperfections. Different jigs for different saws, but I'm sure you get the point. For me this was simply a block of wood screwed to a 1x2 and clamped to my mitre saw. Something that you can but the uncut wood up to so that you cut exactly the same size piece each time. You can do it with 7 8' 2x4's but you should get 8 so that you can pick the best pieces. I like that my peices had a little character and I had to chuck a couple where the knots were to extreem. Select 2x4's are likely only straighter with less knots and select doesn't imply a finish sanded product. If you could find an "s4s"(sanded 4 sides) pine 2x4 that would help with finishing work but it is not likely you will. With "spf" 2x4's these blocks are heavy enough, so I would not recommend a hardwood for safety and convenience reasons. Sometimes you get a little colored sap wood and that looks good after finishing. Look for wood that has square edges and minimal or only small knots. a little bend in an 8' board isn't noticeable when you cut it into 10" chunks. Wood selection: Straight isn't that big of a deal. They came out beautiful and are smooth like glass for easy play and good protection. cut 54 of those suckers at 10.5 inches and you are good to go! THAT being said, I spent less than an hour cutting and a good 12-15 hours finishing. All you really need to know if in usa and using regular 2x4 wall studs. Looking this all over this seems very simple, and it is. When you have all the materials you can start measuring and marking where you are going to saw.Īfter you have done that you can start to saw!! As finishing touch you can sand down the edges for a smooth look.Ĭost : Wooden beams +/- 25eur, Box 10eur I know the 1 to 3 ratio is not applied but I just took some wooden beams that were available at the store and then kind of tried to fit all the pieces in the length of the beams. My blocks are 21cm long, 6.7cm wide and 4.2cm high. To set up the game, the included loading tray is used to stack the initial tower which has 18 levels of three blocks placed adjacent to each other along their long side and perpendicular to the previous level (so, for example, if the blocks in the first level lie lengthwise north-south, the second level blocks will lie east-west)" Materials Each block is three times as long as it is wide, and one fifth as thick as it is long (1.5 x 2.5 x 7.5 cm). 11/13/2023 0 Comments Fantasy art steampunk splice monsterJacob's Ladder and Under The Shadow, The Lair joins a crop of breathless action-packed horror movies featuring brutal monsters and mutated creations that run amok on the battlefield and beyond. As a result of Hollywood's sheer worldwide fame and notoriety, certain Hollywood directors themselves have become synonymous with the specific styles they. Today, for good or bad, Hollywood is unanimously and globally used as a collective term for the mainstream American movie industry. Through several social, economic, and political factors, early Hollywood directors dominated motion-picture storytelling in the west during most of the 20th century. From the late 1800s to the early 1900s, new camera technologies gave way to the careers of filmmakers not just from America, but also from France, Japan, India, Russia, China, Britain, the Philippines, and other countries where the earliest motion-picture cameras made their way. While the term Hollywood still refers to one particular neighborhood in Los Angeles, it was about a hundred years ago when it started becoming an encompassing metonym for the American movie industry itself. Hollywood directors are practically synonymous with western cinema. 11/13/2023 0 Comments Eset endpoint security macLocal distributors are used in other countries. And the packaging with the holder and 1 set of blades mentioned that the packaging is 100% recyclable and made out of 50% recycled paper. Are Flamingo razor blades recyclable? There a recycling logo on the packaging with 50% in it. I found an article online that they don’t use any animal products nor test on animals, which makes the brand vegan and cruelty-free. To determine the ‘sustainability level’ of the Flamingo razor blades we can look at the packaging, longevity, and also if they are cruelty-free. Razor Kit (US)* // Razor Kit (UK)* // Razor kit (NL)* // Cartridge Pack (US)* // Cartridge Pack (UK)* // Cartridge Pack (NL)* Are Flamingo razor blades cruelty-free? Therefore it’s important to be aware of the ‘sustainability level’ of your razor in my opinion. I know there are quite a lot of sustainable razors out there nowadays, like the Bamboozy safety razor, but I can imagine those look kind of scary to use. It’s also quite important to think about the sustainability of razors. Therefore I ended up cutting myself quite a lot while shaving my legs. I found that most of the razors I chose to use, were purely out of the price point and not if I found them comfortable to use. I never considered this, but a hair removal tool like razors needs to be doing the job without being uncomfortable. Razor bladers are not cheap and they are a necessity if you prefer parts of your body to be hairless. Well, first of all, you can consider your personal preference. Besides shaving, I’d love to try out at-home laser hair removal one day! Why care which razor blade you buy?īefore I tried the Flamingo razor blades, I also thought what does it matter. Every hair removal device has its pros and cons, so let me know in the comments below what you prefer. And they also require you to let your hair grow, which in my opinion can be quite annoying. I rather go to a waxing salon, but those treatments are often quite expensive. I’ve also tried an epilator, but to be honest I found the process very tedious and painful. Besides that, there are many ways like IPL laser hair removal, that require you to shave before using the product. Well, I found that with a quality razor you don’t cut yourself as often. There are indeed many other ways of hair removal, so why should you invest in a good razor. They had the serumy cushions around the blades, but I still managed to cut myself every now and then. Later on, I found a brand that was not too expensive but also made shaving a little bit more comfortable. During my student years, I went for the cheapest option, hence I cut myself a lot when shaving my legs. To be honest for my entire life I’ve been buying my razors without giving them too much thought. A little over a month ago I got the opportunity to try a new razor brand, Flamingo Razor Blades. 11/12/2023 0 Comments Kite runner kite fighting“Isn’t he a bit like you and me”, my brother joined in laughingly. “Knows not where he’s going to”, I continued. “Doesn’t have a point of view”, I intoned. “Making all his nowhere plans for nobody” I hummed. “He’s a real nowhere man, sitting in his nowhere land”, I sang. Last week I telephoned my sibling on his birthday. The minute I heard the lyrics I knew that henceforth the tormented would become the tormentor and over the ages I took full advantage of it. When Beatles, the rock band, released their “Nowhere Man” record in 1965, it took roughly 10 years to reach our shores in India. Moreover, in the true spirit of “winner takes all”, I would proclaim the prize as mine till my brother turned up to over-rule my decision. I don’t know why I was given this job because I was definitely not the fastest sprinter but I had the sharpest vision and could detect a fallen kite from a distance. In all this I was the designated kite runner, you know, the person who ran to collect the trophy from where it fell after being skillfully brought down. kite-fighting tournament and his loyal friend Hassan promises to help him. It took a lot of practice and expert precision to manoeuvre a fighting kite, but winning a battle earned the victor the respect and praise of the entire community. The goal in a kite-fight was to bring down one’s neighbour’s kite by using an abrasive line, which was coated with a mixture of finely crushed glass and rice glue, called “manjha” in the local language. Kites were mostly made from a lightweight thin paper and the spars from flexible wood, usually bamboo. In fact, there was a complete science behind it, with enough lift and so on to counteract its weight, before it was airborne.Īlso, the cord attached to the kite had to be strong so that it could cut the strings of the other kites flying nearby in the kite-fighting competitions. The wind conditions and the shape of the kite played a big role, but the most important factor was the right technique. While kite flying seemed like fun, getting it off the ground was not as easy as it appeared to be. Now, children these days might not even know what kite flying is all about, but during my time, it was right at the top of “a list of things one had to learn to survive in a backyard of a beyond small town”. So along with handcrafting a catapult, collecting glowworms, pressing dried flowers inside the pages of an old book and making a swing out of discarded car tyres, he also taught me how to fly a kite. It did not please anyone, but by the time they figured it out, we had flown the nest, so to speak.įrom a very young age, my older sibling took it upon himself to indoctrinate certain skills in me that could be considered perfectly worthless today. In my Dad’s home there was total chaos, of course, because I shared my birth month with my older brother, which resulted in my parents hosting a joint party for the two of us. It has nothing to do with the date of my arrival - though I loved the simple celebration that my grandparents arranged in their house where I was born - each time I visited them. He asked, "Do you want me to run that kite for you?" Sohrab nodded, and Amir told him, "For you, a thousand times over.Just before the advent of my birthday each year, childhood memories came surging at me. When Amir looked down at Sohrab, he witnessed a half-smile steal over Sohrab's face. When the kite came close enough, Amir performed Hassan's favorite kite-fighting trick, "the old lift-and-dive" as Sohrab watched, mesmerized. They stood in silence once more until they noticed a green kite closing in on theirs. As he stared up at it, he noticed that Sohrab had followed him and handed him the string. Sohrab remained silent, but Amir knew what to do he ran as fast as he could to launch the kite. He told him that Hassan was the best kite runner he had ever known and asked Sohrab to fly the kite with him. When Amir noticed kites flying over the park. When you first open it, you’ll notice that the interface is very similar to PowerPoint. Storyline 2 is a much more intuitive product. However, there is a large Adobe Community and through the use of a few books and a bunch of videos posted to Adobe’s YouTube channel, I was able to get myself up and running. Mastering the concept of layers and the timeline is not something you’d think of if you’re used to using a product like Microsoft PowerPoint. Looking at the layout of Adobe Captivate can be daunting to an Adobe newbie. When I first opened up Adobe Captivate, I had not used an Adobe product since I took a digital photography class in college (and let’s just say it’s been a few years since college). But what happens when that newer version is released? You’ll have to buy it. So, the good news is that you’ll pay more up front, but you’ll be able to use that version for a few years before Articulate releases a newer version. Have a Mac? You’ll have to purchase another software program like Parallels and install Windows on your Mac, which will slow down your computer’s processing speed and eat up a lot of memory! Storyline 2, as its name implies, is only the second iteration of this software, which has been around for quite a few years. The other downside besides the initial cost, which can be a bit prohibitive if you’re just getting started in the eLearning business: It only runs on Windows. In other words, it would take five years of subscribing to Adobe Captivate to equal what you are required to pay upfront for Articulate Storyline 2. So you can easily take an image you’ve placed in Captivate, round-trip it to Photoshop for editing, and easily reintegrate it back into your project.Īrticulate Storyline 2 charges users an upfront fee of $1,846 to download the software. Want to know another cool feature? Adobe Captivate can integrate seamlessly with other products within the Adobe Creative Suite such as Photoshop or Edge Animate. Another clear advantage of Adobe Captivate is that it will run seamlessly on both Windows and Apple operating systems. What is great about this subscription is that it allows you to upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Captivate when it is released, which typically happens at least once a year. But, the question is: Which is best? Well, let’s take a look at the facts as we see them:Īdobe Captivate charges users a monthly subscription fee of about $30 to be able to use their product. Articulate and Adobe have both produced two powerful rapid eLearning authoring tools in Storyline 2 and Captivate, but which is best for custom eLearning development? Here at GAAP Dynamics, we’ve been fortunate enough to use both tools for a variety of projects (check out our Change the Way You Train module, created in Adobe Captivate 8, and our Shades of Gray with the FCPA quiz, created in Articulate Storyline 2, here). |
